Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dele Fulani, has debunked the rumour of rift making the rounds in some section of the media between governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State and the national leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing it as false.
Fulani stated that the rumour is nothing but a made up tissues of lies peddled by some mischief makers to achieve their selfish and parochial objective, adding that the governor remained undaunted and undistracted in his political pursuit by the cheap ploys of the detractors.
While admitting that though, there were subtle differences between the two astute politicians from the southwest in the past, he revealed that that has, however, since being resolved.
Fulani described the current relationship between the duo as smooth and cordial like that of two loving brothers.
The party chieftain stressed that governor Akeredolu himself confirmed this before leadership of the party at the national secretariat of APC in Abuja when he alluded to the fact that he dealt directly with some power brokers in the presidency to ride to power in 2016 but today he is enjoying the support of the Lagos based politician.
Governor Akeredolu had reportedly said in Abuja after submitting his nomination form that, " In 2016, it was Akure and Abuja. But today, it is Akure, Lagos and Abuja."
Unlike in 2016, the two time former governor of Lagos State has since maintained a neutral posture in the politics of Ondo as he has refused to publicly show interest in any of the aspirants battling for the governorship ticket of APC.
Fulani, however, believed if there is any candidate Tinubu is rooting for among the twelve aspirants, it is governor Akeredolu.
He expressed his optimism that the governor will win the primary election slated for Monday July 20, 2020, and go ahead to be re-elected in the October 10 governorship election in the State.
